Students, faculty, and staff at University of Michigan wrote messages of hope on a display of a tent provided to refugees by the UNHCR. These are typically rented out for $50-$200 and house between 6-15 family members. Inside the tent were photos and pieces that articulated the stories of some Syrian refugees that photographer Sarah Herman met at a Lebanese refugee camp. Through this art display, she has brought to their stories to life, invoking empathy and urgency regarding the largest humanitarian crisis of our generation.
